Marathon runner plans to cover 700 miles for charity

First published in News

A MARATHON runner is hoping for a big cheer to help him on his way through Southampton as he runs 700 miles in just 25 days.

Business studies lecturer Matt Rogerson, 40, from Wales, will be passing through the city on April 14.

His challenge is to visit the 21 most successful Premier League sides of all time.

He set off from Newcastle United’s ground on Thursday with a goal to raise over £50,000 for Breakthro Llanelli, bowel cancer charity the Bobby Moore Fund and the British Heart Foundation.

re Marathon runner article:

Before settling in Wales, Matt was a local lad, born in Southampton and attended Newlands and Redbridge Schools.

On Sunday, 14 April, Matt will be visiting St Mary's Stadium during the afternoon and again on Monday morning before continuing his run to London where he will visiit further Premier League clubs. To complete his 700 miles in 25 days, he will take part in the London 2013 Marathon on Sunday 21 April.

I feel sure, when passing through Southampton, Matt would really appreciate any support and contributions to his choice of charities. I would be grateful, therefore, if you could print another article with these further details in the Daily Echo of Saturday 13 April.

Further to my article on the 31 March, concerning Matt Rogerson, I regret to inform you that Matt has sustained an injury that has prevented him from completing his quest. He did manage to complete 182 miles in 6 days before being forced to withdraw. Thank you for your interest.
