YOUNGSTERS in Hampshire can’t get enough of a 20-year-old dance routine that has taken the charts by storm.

Ant and Dec fever is gripping the nation thanks to the revival of the popular TV duo’s song Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble – which is appealing to a whole new generation.

The routine, which was first performed 19 years ago under their Byker Grove personas PJ and Duncan, is sweeping the county with youngsters practising their moves in their bedrooms and even the school halls.

Youngsters signed off the spring term with their own performances of the track that looks set to top the charts later today.

Year 3 pupils at The Crescent school in Eastleigh performed their version to the rest of the school, who promptly joined in afterwards.

Eight-year-old Sinead Williams said: “I love dancing to it. It is fun and the music is really easy to dance to.”

It was a similar story at Hiltingbury Infant School in Chandler’s Ford where Year 1 Beech class perfected their “rhumble”under the guidance of teacher and self-confessed fan Lucy Kelly.

She said: “The children have been loving it. They came into school on Monday talking about it so we have had it on in the classroom. I loved it the first time around, and it’s great it is appealing to a whole new generation.”

The TV duo say they are staggered after sales rocketed following a performance on their Saturday Night Takeaway show a week ago.

It culminated with the song hitting number one in the charts tonight - 17 years after Ant and Dec gave up their pop career.
