ANDOVER’S own Iron Man will be taking part in this weekend’s Paris Marathon to continue raising money for a children’s charity.

Ben Walton, from Lingen Close, Andover, will be taking part in his third marathon in a year to help reach his target of £10,000 for Whizz-Kidz.

The charity provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods.

Last year Ben took on the challenge of taking on three marathons in 12 months for Whizz-Kidz.

The charity is a big part of Ben’s son Zak’s life and Ben says the challenge is his way of saying thank you.

His first marathon should have been Brighton but after coming down with pneumonia four weeks before the marathon Ben put that off and ran the London Marathon a week later.

The second marathon was New York, but this marathon was cancelled due to hurricane Sandy a few hours after he landed in the city.

After training hard for this one Ben decided to run the distance anyway, without realising thousands of other runners had the same idea and so he joined them in the ‘Run Anyway Marathon’ around Central Park.

The Paris Marathon is the final marathon of the challenge, which Ben hopes to finish within five hours.
