ALEX Crossman and Joe Cappy were on target for Farnworth United, who beat title-chasing Cattle Market 2-1 to stay top of Division One.

But United’s other main rivals in the championship chase – Darcy Lever and Farnworth Cricket Club – also won to maintain the pressure on the leaders.

Aaron McCarthy hit four and Adam Allwill scored two as second-placed Darcy Lever won 6-2 at Morris Dancers while Matty Carter (two), Arron Rushden, Chris Lawton and Anthony Harrison were on target as Farnworth CC, who only trail the leaders by four points with four games in hand, won 5-1 at D Havilland.

Goalkeeper Kieron Torkington was on target for Newbury who held third-placed Johnson Fold to a 2-2 draw.

The Division Two title contenders – Deane Vulcan, Dunmare and Gilnow Arms – all won, Danny Smith scoring seven of Dunmare’s goals in the 12-3 thrashing of Brown Cow.
