Helping the injured
9:00am Saturday 20th April 2013 in News
A TEAM of soldiers based at Perham Down, near Tidworth, are hoping to raise £9,000 by cycling from London’s St Paul’s Cathedral to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
On the way they will call in at Headley Court in Surrey to meet comrades seriously injured in recent conflicts who are working hard to come to terms with their injuries.
The team will be pedalling in aid of Stubs, a charity which directs all its energies into helping the most seriously injured.
One of the soldiers, 28-yearold Karl O’Doherty, said: “We were forever putting up posters advertising all sorts of activities, sometimes for charities.
“We asked ourselves what we could do and decided to do this ourselves.”
The soldiers will be setting out over the bank holiday weekend in August but have an arduous round of fundraising before then.
Anyone who would like to donate can do so online at justgiving.com/matthewcarter6.
