MORE than 4,000 people have applied for 150 jobs at a new Hampshire supermarket.
The new Tesco store, which is set to open in Rowner, Gosport, next month, has now filled all 150 vacancies following massive local demand.
A total of 4,300 applied for the posts online with 826 reaching the interview stage and 672 undergoing a short work trial.
A Tesco spokesman said: ''We're really pleased to be opening our new store in Rowner, Gosport and to be creating 150 jobs in the community.
''We had a fantastic response from local people during our recruitment receiving over 4,000 online applications.
''Part of our recruitment process also involved working with the Job Centre Plus to provide guaranteed interviews for over 50 long-term unemployed people.
''Many of our new colleagues are now completing their training ready for the store opening in May.''
