FORMER Southampton FC hero Matthew Le Tissier was the guest of honour as Overton United FC celebrated their centenary year with a function at St Luke’s Hall.

More than 100 guests enjoyed an evening of reminiscence and humour from the Southampton legend who racked up 540 appearances for his club and turned out eight times for England. Comedian Russ Williams provided the laughs and compered the auction which saw more than £3,000 raised for the club.

Organiser Karen Fletcher and her team worked tirelessly, providing excellent dishes from The Redfort restaurant, in Overton, along with beverages.

Donations were received for the Centenary Honours Board, which is sponsored by ACUMED, and the club are closing in on their £5,000 target.
