DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Southampton dad shot dead in a city centre flat have made another arrest.

A 22-year-old was arrested in London and is currently in police custody being quizzed about the death of Jahmel Jones, who was shot in the head in St Mary Street last Saturday.

It follows the arrest of two other people who were arrested yesterday, a 20-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, who remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Barton said: “We know this murder was drug related and we realise some of those people who may have vital information about Jahmel's death may also be involved in some way with drugs.

“I would ask that they don't let this put them off coming forward to police. My priority is solving this murder. If they don't want to speak directly to us they can always call Crimestoppers anonymously and give us the information that way.

“It's important we find those responsible for this crime as quickly as possible.”

Five people arrested over the weekend were released on bail earlier this week.

Anyone with information should call the Operation Emetic team direct at Southampton Central police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
