PLANS to demolish a former church and build four flats on the site in Southampton have been turned down.
City council planners decided that plans to knock down the former telephone relay station in Garfield Road, Bitterne, would be an overdevelopment of the site.
Applicants John and Julie Pardey bought the building, which was used as a telephone relay station from 1964-1984 and a Spiritualist meeting room from 1984-2011, at auction last year.
