One of Southampton's major roads was shut after a serious crash.
An 80-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the crash in the Bitterne area of the city.
An air ambulance was called to the scene in Bursledon Road but the patient, from Bitterne, was taken to Southampton General Hospital.
The road was shut for several hours but reopened shortly before 6pm.
A police investigation has been launched into the accident which involved a dark blue BMW cabriolet.
A 20-year-old man is currently being questioned by officers in connection with the incident.
Bursledon Road, near the Magna Mazda garage, was blocked in both directions.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting Operation Income.
Sarah Cartin, 33, was at work on the reception desk at Magna Mazda, just yards from the crash scene. She said: “There was a loud thud. I thought a car had gone into another car.
“It was awful. I'm never going to be able to get that noise out of my head.
“I ran to say we had called an ambulance. He was curled up in a little ball.
"Someone had put a blanket over him.”
