A former Southampton dock worker died of asbestos-related cancer, an inquest heard.
Leonard Handley, of Trent Road, Midanbury, died aged 70 at Countess Mountbatten House hospice, West End, on January 28 due to heart failure and peritoneal malignant mesothelioma.
The inquest in Winchester heard that Mr Handley had worked at the docks for several years, carrying bags of asbestos and using it in ship repair.
Deputy coroner for Central Hampshire Simon Burge recorded a verdict of death due to an industrial disease.
