DOZENS of bikers will today pay tribute to a much-loved motorcyclist who died in a collision in Southampton.

Motorcyclists will meet the hearse of Steve Dawson outside the Stile Inn pub in Shirley Road at around 11am this morning.

They will follow the funeral procession to Southampton Crematorium’s east chapel for his service at 11.45am.

I was very shocked about this, as I was passing in our car pretty much at the same time - missed it by seconds. I feel dreadful for his family and friends - :(

I hope he has a wonderful send off and the good times are remembered. Please 'think bike' everyone and take care when driving. Doesn't take a second to look a second time.

The looking is not the problem. It's SEEING that's the important thing. I'm a biker (and a car driver), and I've lost count of the number of times at junctions and roundabouts that car drivers have looked directly at me (so you think you've been seen), only to pull out causing me to take avoiding action, And that's with hi-viz jacket and headlight on. For some reason a large proportion of car drivers seem conditioned to only look for 4-wheeled vehicles.
