An investigation has been launched after Internet hackers posted offensive messages on the Facebook page of one of Hampshire's most popular children's attractions.

Peppa Pig World's Facebook page has been targeted by unknown hackers who have posted a number of messages, spam links and pictures over the past 24 hours.

Staff from the attraction, based at Paulton's Park near Romsey, have been working with Facebook to track down the culprits, but admit they are no nearer to identifying the source of the messages.

Among the posts left on the website, which is liked by almost 140,000 parents and their children, were messages containing swear words and rude jokes.

Angry parents have demanded free tickets in compensation, with one saying: “Free day pass for everyone who has read this and lost trust in Peppa Pig's World?”

In a statement, Peppa Pig World said: “Unfortunately the Peppa Pig World Facebook page has been hacked by an unknown source.

“We are currently working with Facebook and doing everything we can to resolve the issue, thank you for your continued understanding.

“Although we are not responsible for this we apologise for what is frustratingly out of our control.”
