With the 2012-2013 chess season now at an end, Stourbridge chess club are holding their usual program of summer activities which are open to both existing and prospective club members.

The annual post-season friendly Tony Evers match against Halesowen will be held on July 3 at the Stourbridge Institute.

Stourbridge chess club’s Summer tournament starts on June 12. It is a 5 round tournament using the Swiss pairing system. This means that everyone has the opportunity to play in all 5 rounds and will be paired against an opponent with the same score. The second round of the tournament will be held on June 26 with the remaining rounds taking place once a fortnight.

The past season was one of the best ever for Stourbridge with double promotion to division 1 of the Wolverhampton league and to the prestigious division 1 of the Birmingham league.

We were champions of Wolverhampton division 2 with a perfect 100% record.

We also won division 1 of the Dudley league.
