No comment from builders Leadbitter on workers who apparently hid Pompey shirt in Staplewood walls
Bosses at a construction firm were tight-lipped last night over the fate of builders appearing to hide a Pompey shirt in a wall at Saints’ training ground.
Footage appeared online of a Pompey shirt and scarf placed on a space of wall at the club’s Staplewood ground before a worker – wearing a high visibility jacket and helmet – covers it with insulation.
But when approached by the Daily Echo, Leadbitter, the firm contracted to carry out the work, was unable to comment if the workers had been sacked.
The 47-second video starts with a man panning a camera across the pitch at the club’s new training ground development in Marchwood.
It pans round to the balcony area of a building visibly under construction where a colleague is standing by a section of wall.
The shirt and scarf are covered with insulation and the worker gives the thumbs up sign to the cameraman.
The footage was uploaded to YouTube before it was taken down, removed by the person who originally posted it to the site.
Some Saints fans were angered by the footage, describing their actions as “unprofessional”, while other supporters say the prank is light-hearted fun.
