A HAMPSHIRE music venue is staging a special tribute to Amy Winehouse on the eve of what would have been her 30th birthday.

The British and Grammy Award winner, died at the age of 27 after a much headlined battle against drink and drug addiction.

Amy was found dead on July 23, 2011 at her Camden, London home. Cause of death was accidental alcohol poisoning.

She joined the tragic toll of rock stars who belonged to the 27 Club after dying at that remarkably young age.

On September 13, Eastleigh’s Concorde Club, will be the setting for what is being billed as Amy Winehouse’s 30th Birthday Bash.

Promising to be a glittering evening there will be a tribute by Laura Butler who has received much acclaim for her portrayal of Amy Winehouse.

Laura, who has toured the UK, France, Belgium and Switzerland, is now endorsed as the official Amy Winehouse tribute for the Foundation for which she is raising money.

Among the guests at the Concorde charity night, which also includes tribute acts Rhianna and Pink, will be the Amy Winehouse’s parents.

A former taxi driver, her dad Mitch, Winehouse has also become a big name in the jazz singing world.

After his daughter’s tragic death, Mitch wrote a book Amy, My Daughter celebrating her all but brief life.

Aimed at putting the record straight about her troubled life it documented his daughter’s rise to stardom and struggles with addictions.

Proceeds from the book, which was a Sunday Times best seller, have gone to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The Concorde tribute night will give a big boost to the Foundation’s fundraising and work.

It will also celebrate the life of a superstar whose distinctive singing style of soul, R&B, jazz, blues, reggae and ska, brought her fame around the world.

The Foundation is already helping tens of thousands of vulnerable young people throughout the United Kingdom.

In a message on the Foundation’s website, Mitch says: “The Winehouse Foundation works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people.

“We also aim to support, inform and inspire vulnerable young people to help them reach their full potential.”
