Trust’s £2K air ambulance aid
A CHARITABLE trust set up by a Hampshire landowner is helping to keep the county’s flying medics airborne.
The Barker-Mill Foundation, which is a charity arm of the Barker-Mill Estates that owns land at Nursling and in the New Forest, donated £2,000 to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Minutes Matter Appeal.
Air Ambulance officials hope to raise £1.5m through donations and legacies to run the emergency service around the clock and upgrade the charity’s yellow helicopter. It also plans to have a specialist trauma doctor on board every emergency dash medics make.
So far about £820,000 has been raised for the enhancement project, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance boss John Perry said every pound counts.
“We are very grateful for the contribution from the Barker-Mill Foundation.
“Without such generosity, we wouldn’t be able to offer this important service.
“Upgrading our service is vital in order to continue providing a high level of support across Hampshire and The Isle of Wight.”
