Eastleigh scooterists' £2,000 boost for Winchester hospital
11:40am Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
Members of the Due South Scooter Club visited the hospital to hand over the cheque on Saturday.
There to greet them was the Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Malcolm Cross – and it turns out he knows a Lambretta from a Vespa.
“He was a scooterist himself. He used to have a Lambretta LI 150, a blue one. So he knew his stuff,” said Adrian Hunt, of the Due South Scooter Club.
Mr Hunt said much of the money was raised at scooter rally held at Romsey Town Football Club, who lent the ground to the scooterists free of charge.
The club raised £2,000 for the Magic Wand Appeal which aims to modernise the Northbrook ward for children at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital.
It is the third large donation that club members have organised.
