Outbuilding protection warning by police
2:40pm Wednesday 14th August 2013 in News
HAMPSHIRE police has issued advice aimed at cutting the number of thefts from outbuildings in rural properties in the county.
Many people take a great deal of trouble securing their home and property while at the same time leaving valuable equipment in a shed or barn that is either unlocked or not maintained.
Advice being issued includes securing expensive items to an anchor point within the shed, barn or garage and making sure the building is locked.
Police also advise taking photographs of valuable items and marking property with postcodes and register electrical items with immobilising websites.
Officers have also urged homeowners to ensure outbuildings are well maintained have suitable security lighting and property is not on show.
