Detectives question woman over murder of man in Southampton alley way
Police are tonight questioning a woman after the body of man was found in a Southampton alley way.
The 25-year-old was arrested after the body of the man, who was in his early 30s, was found in Defender Road in the early hours of the morning.
Police say the victim had suffered head injuries, and despite the best efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2.15am.
The road in Woolston has been cordoned off as police forensics specialists investigate, while an appeal for information has been issued.
A tent was erected in the alleyway where the body was found, while sniffer dogs are helping pice officers search for clues.
A minibus that had been parked in the alleyway has been taken away for examination.
A telephone box in Bridge Road has also been examined as part of the investigation.
Detective Inspector Ellie Hurd, who Is leading the investigation, said: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation and a key part of this is to speak to anyone who may have seen the victim in the area between 10.30pm yesterday evening and 3am this morning.
"He was in his early 30s and was wearing a white sweatshirt with blue lettering across the chest, dark trousers and carrying a white bag."

The murder has sent shock waves through the community, with residents expressing their shock at what has happened.
