It's D-Day for Millbrook's Got Talent
7:20am Sunday 25th August 2013 in News
THE glitz and glamour of this year’s X-factor is just a week away – but Southampton is gearing up for its own talent contest today.
Hundreds are expected to flock to Millbrook’s Got Talent tomorrow at the Saints Pub.
Last year the competition was won by beatboxer Ray Ridout, 18, from Millbrook, and in 2011, Harrison Fisher, 16, from Nursling, took home the prize and was snapped up by music agents.
Others who have achieved success include guitarist Shaun McGowan, who was given a recording contract after taking second place in 2011, and 15-year-old Izzii Moulsdale, who has recently released an album.
There will be singers, dancers, impersonators, beat boxers and comedians taking part in a bid to win £1,000 prize money.
Eugene McManus, organiser and landlord of The Saint’s pub, said: “We staged the first one three years ago when some of our customers came up with the idea of holding a talent show.
“It’s probably the most popular event that we stage here. The volume of talent improves year on year and I doubt that this year will be any different.
New this year is a comedian, an impersonator and dance groups.”
The event starts at the Saints Pub from 2pm onwards.
