Fareham woman fights council ban on opening window 5cm
11:00am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
A WOMAN is appealing a council’s decision not to allow her to open a window in her home just 5cm – a couple of inches.
Lynn Taylor has appealed against the decision by Fareham borough councillors, who refused permission for a change in the planning conditions so a bathroom rooflight could be opened at the family home in Haven Crescent, Hill Head.
She wanted to be able to open the rooflight, fitted with a restrictor allowing it to open 5cm, so the bathroom could be aired.
Council officers recommend the current application get permission as long as details were provided of a suitable restrictive window.
However, councillors refused the application in June because opening the rooflight in their opinion could mean it was possible to overlook another property.
A Ggovernment-appointed inspector will decide the case through written representations.
