Sun shines on Easton village fete, near Winchester
11:10am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
The sun shone once again on the annual village fete in Easton, near Winchester, with around 1,000 people turning out.
It has been going for at least 50 years and was held at the village cricket ground, large enough to contain a variety of stalls, games, ferret racing, a dog show, classic car parade and a vintage helicopter.
The fete is organised by a local committee, with Iris Lacey, Sally Stone and Sally Clarke taking the lead this year.
Mrs Stone said: “It’s just fantastic to see so many people turn up. Thank goodness we always seem to have good weather. No matter what the weather is like the day before or even on the morning, every year we end up being lucky and it clears up.
“We usually raise around £6,000 which is divided between the village hall, church and cricket club and that is a great boost for each of them.”
