A HAMPSHIRE man who helped raise millions of pounds towards a new hospital has died.
Walter Symons, who was 95, was director of the Lymington and District Hospital Appeal for the full 28 years.
The appeal raised £3.3m over that time and funded a new casualty department, a new X-ray department and upgraded the theatre suite.
A former mayor and retired builder Mr Symons became involved in the hospital league of friends through his late wife Kay.
He died at St George’s Nursing Home in Milford.
His funeral will take place at Hinton Park Woodland Burial Ground at Walkford on September 3.
