MOTORISTS have been stung for more than £1.3m by a speed camera over the past three years.
The camera, on the A3024 near Bitterne centre, has generated a total of £1,307,520 since 2010 - trapping 10,985 drivers last year.
Figures from Hampshire Constabulary reveal a total of 21,792 drivers were flashed by the camera over the past three years, resulting in a fine of at least £60 each.
The statistics confirm the camera as the third most-cash generating speed camera in the UK.
The camera is located on the A3024 Maybray King Way, which has a maximum speed limit of 30mph.
There are two cameras on Maybray King Way, but it is believed to be the one watching traffic heading out of Southampton which is the third most prolific in the country.
It caught a total of 3,234 drivers during the year 2010/2011.
But that figure more than doubled for the year 2011/2012 to a total of 7,573.
Year 2012/2013 saw another big increase with a total of 10,985 being snapped by the camera over 12 months.
