Praise after quick coastguard rescue
11:58am Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
THE SOLENT Coastguard were called into action yesterday after a holidaymaker broke his leg while skim boarding on the Isle of Wight.
They dispatched the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat to the aid of the 31-year-old, who was on the shore in severe pain opposite the clock tower on Shanklin Esplanade.
The crew gave first aid until the paramedic arrived and the patient was taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
The crews would like to thank the public and the longshoremen for helping to make it a quick rescue.
