Man dies after falling from Holyrood House in Southampton
A MAN has died following a plunge from a city tower block.
The 43-year-old man fell from Holyrood House on the Holyrood Estate, around 2.15pm this afternoon.
Despite members of the public and paramedics trying to save the man, he was pronounced dead at 2.50pm.
According to police, the man was a resident of Holyrood House.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in the nearby Hoglands Park after members of the public dialled 999.
One witness told the Daily Echo: "There was a loud thud and I thought that there had been a car crash.
"A lady screamed and it was one of those screams you just knew something horrible had happened.
"Then there is a guy on the ground next to the flats, with a chair next to him.
"Two members of public started CPR until ambulance arrived. I don't know what floor he fell - from it's eight storeys high. A white tent is now being erected.
"[It was a] very shocking experience."
