12:50pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
TRAVELLERS have again moved on to land in Eastleigh.
An encampment of four caravans and a motor home has been set up on land close to Chartwell Close in Allbrook since Tuesday.
Landowner Eastleigh Borough Council said it had visited the site to ask the group to leave.
Ther council is awaiting results of a needs assessment carried out by Hampshire County Council – the next stage of the process before it can decide what action to take.
Hampshire police said they were aware of the encampment, but no issues had been reported to them.
This follows a travellers camp of 14 caravans and 34 people that set up at Passfield Avenue, in Eastleigh, last week.
The group moved in last Tuesday and Eastleigh Borough Council had been to the site as had representatives from Hampshire County Council for a needs assessment.
However, the travellers moved on of their own accord last Friday.
