Roads in Winchester to be closed off for water mains work
2:00pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
Major works are to start on September 9 that will affect much of south Winchester’s traffic.
An “essential” water mains replacement scheme will see parts of two key roads in Colden Common closed off while work is done to reduce the risk of pipe bursts.
Starting in autumn, the scheme’s first phase is expected to last six weeks, with temporary traffic lights, while phase two starts in October, with further temporary lights on the junction of Portsmouth Road and Main Road.
The final phase, expected to start in January, will include a complete road closure of the B2177, with work due to finish next spring.
