Faster broadband ‘by 2015’
7:06pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
THE campaign for faster broadband in rural north Winchester is progressing, according to a county councillor.
Jackie Porter said a revised council plan should bring at least 24MB broadband to 97 out of every 100 households in her ward, which covers the Itchen Valley, Kings Worthy and Alresford, by 2015.
Cllr Porter said: “The problem is that BT has one set of national delivery criteria and it just doesn’t work for households and businesses in rural areas.
“Following our campaign here, the county council really seems to understand the implication this time – so we are told that we can expect 100 per cent broadband coverage by end 2015 and 97 per cent superfast by 2017.”
