SENSATIONAL blues guitarist Larry Miller will be playing at The Brook tonight. Since picking up his brother’s guitar, he felt sure that his career was in rock music.
Being inspired by some of the guitar greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter and Gary Moore, Larry has been creating and defining his own unique sound. Now, with six critically acclaimed albums and years of relentless touring under his belt, he has become legendary with his exciting, mesmerising guitar playing and rip-roaring live shows.
He even had a day named after him, National Larry Miller Day, after playing an incredible seven encores at the Cambridge Rock Festival.
AFTER kicking off last night, the WTFfest at The Joiners is continuing over the weekend.
For the fifth year, the venue will be full of an exciting mix of bands until Sunday. Among them will be Off With Their Heads, Jim Lockey and the Soul Man, Random Hand, Apologies I Have None and many others. Every genre from punk rock, hardcore and ska is celebrated and promises to keep you dancing all weekend. Bands will also be playing in Unit, The Alexandra and Oxfam music.
There will also be a free party held after each show in Unit.
Tickets are available for the entire weekend or for individual days.
BRINGING his incredible acoustic sound to Southampton, Alistair Goodwin will be playing at The Shooting Star tonight.
Since he first picked up a guitar at the age of three, the instrument has held a lifelong fascination for him. Since then, he’s gone on to play with an incredibly wide range of musicians from the classically-trained to street performers.
His live performances blend melody, rhythm and vocal talent into a heartfelt and heady brew of gutsy driven acoustic roots. His latest musical offering is Songs For The Seagulls – The Priory Session – Vo lume III and delivers one of the widest dynamic ranges you are likely to find.
A STRONG drive and focus has paid off for British band Blitz Kids. The four-piece have worked tirelessly and are now promoting their brand-new album The Good Yo uth. Recorded in America with all star producer, John Feldmann, who has created hits for Panic! At the Disco, All Time Low and Kelis, the record retains a quintessential Britishness. They’ll be playing at The Cellar tomorrow night and promoting what is set to be a future hit.
The alternative rockers will also be playing their debut single Run for Cover. The boys from Crewe are definitely one to catch before they hit the big time.
