Holyrood House tower block fall victim named as Jason Kelly
THE man who died after plunging to his death from a Hampshire tower block balcony has been named.
Hampshire police say Jason Kelly, 43, was the man who fell nearly 50ft from a fifth floor window in Southampton.
As previously reported, attempts by paramedics to save Mr Kelly after his fall on Wednesday were in vain and he was pronounced dead at the foot of Holyrood House at 2.50pm.
Witnesses described seeing a chair tumble from a window and then Mr Kelly plunging from a balcony to his death.
Police told the Daily Echo that at about 12.30pm that day they had been called to reports of a disturbance within Mr Kelly’s flat but when they spoke to him he appeared calm and did not require their help.
A post-mortem was being carried out yesterday ahead of a decision on whether an inquest is opened.
Shocked neighbours have voiced their sadness following Mr Kelly’s death.
Neighbours say he had just returned from a visit to his mother and family’s home in Bournemouth in the days before his death.
A 45-year-old man from nearby Orchard House who wished to remain anonymous said: “It’s very tragic.
“He was very close to his mother who was a lovely woman – she used to visit regularly because of his problems and he had stayed with his family for a couple of days recently.”
