'Positive feedback' about retirement homes in Bishop's Waltham

DEVELOPERS say they have had “positive feedback” about their plans to build a retirement complex in a Hampshire village.
McCarthy and Stone wants to transform the Travers Yard on Coppice Hill in Bishop’s Waltham into 35 retirement apartments and three cottages.
The plans went on show in August at a public exhibition with visitors told the aim was to give “an overall impression of a large country house”.
Bosses say the majority of feedback was supportive of the development.
Shane Paull, McCarthy & Stone’s regional managing director, said: “It is our aim to transform this site with a signature development, which will feature a high-quality design to complement the character of Bishop’s Waltham. We believe this site is an ideal location to provide new and much-needed accommodation for people in later life in the village.
“The public exhibition was an excellent opportunity for us to understand the views of the local community.”
