5:00am Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
A SOUTHAMPTON man, who attacked his girlfriend in a fit of jealousy after someone had called out to her has been jailed.
William Kilgour, 34, received a 10-month sentence and has also been banned from seeing Rachel Hudson for five years.
The city crown court heard how she thought she was going to die and screamed after he put his hands around her neck and started to choke her.
She tried to fight him off and in the struggle, they fell to the ground where he kicked and bit her, said prosecutor Audrey Archer.
Said to have 24 previous convictions, Kilgour, of Bugle Street, admitted causing actual bodily harm.
Passing sentence, Judge Susan Evans QC accepted they had a volatile relationship but described the assault as sustained and committed while he was in drink.
