12:40pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
BURGLARS broke into a house and got away with jewellery and other property, including an air rifle, worth hundreds of pounds.
Among the raiders’ haul from the four-bedroom property at Mottisfont, near Romsey, was a black Compaq laptop computer, a Canon Sureshot digital camera, a pearl necklace, a Seiko gold watch engraved with the words “To a true friend” and a diamond ring. A gold nugget, along with two more watches, a bracelet, an old half crown coin, an iPod, a diamond ring and a quantity of euros were also stolen.
The raiders also took garden tools worth about £500 from an outbuilding.
These included a Tanaka grass trimmer and a hedge trimmer of the same brand, a Ryobl trimmer, a McCulloch hedge trimmer and a petrol-driven Makita chainsaw.
A Webley Osprey .22 air rifle was also stolen from the property in Mottisfont Lane between 8am and 1.30pm on Thursday, August 22.
DC Tamsin Hoare, of Hampshire police, said: “The burglary occurred at a property situated on the main route into Mottisfont.
“I would like to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the area or any other unusual activity.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people of the importance of leaving their property secure and removing keys from locks and windows to a place where they cannot be seen by any potential intruders.”
