Can you help police hunt for Bishopstoke arsonists?
2:40pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
Police hunting for arsonists who went on the rampage in a Hamsphire community are looking for residents’ CCTV footage.
The Daily Echo has previously told how Colin and Jenny Lovelace fled their home after their car was set alight and the flames spread to their garage and home.
The blaze last Thursday morning in Rhinefield Close, Bishopstoke, destroyed their red Mazda and their shed had to be pulled down.
But police launched an investigation after two other cars were targeted by arsonists in the same area and around the same time that they think are linked.
Now detectives are asking residents who live next to Alan Drayton Way or on Fair Oak Road or Bishopstoke Road that have CCTV showing the path or road to help with their investigation. Following the arson attack in Rhinefeld Close, police found attempts had been made to light fires in a red Ford Focus, parked around the corner in Sunningdale Close. The car’s boot was open and contained burnt pieces of paper and there was more burnt paper found on the passenger seat.
Then at about 6.45am, the owner of a silver Audi estate car, which was parked in Guest Road, Fair Oak, found the petrol cap open with cardboard pushed into the opening. Anyone who has information or CCTV footage can call Det Sgt Sarah Dring on 101.
