Man on epic 40-marathon trek passes through Winchester - with his fridge!

Winchester was briefly host to a man running 40 marathons in 40 days – with a fridge on his back.
Tony ‘the fridge’ Phoenix-Morrison, 49, from Hebburn near Newcastle, finished day 30 of 40 on Sunday at Chandler’s Ford train station after storming through Winchester city centre along St Cross Road.
Running from John o’Groats to Land’s End, the super-fit grandfather of two is nearing his final leg, while carrying the 42.5kg Smeg fridge, fundraising for the Bobby Robson Foundation.
Trying to beat his previous record of 30 marathons in 30 days, Tony said in his blog: “It was really important to me that everybody knew why I was attempting this challenge.
“I wanted to show people how to stand up to adversity. I can take the fridge off, people fighting cancer cannot escape their burden quite so easily. I do feel that my techniques can help people enormously who have hard battles and long journeys to face.”
Having already suffered a pelvis injury during his endurance test, Tony has sought help everywhere, having even been offered free treatment from his physiotherapist.
