Doctor set to save Eastleigh from extermination
2:10pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
THE Daleks are coming to Eastleigh – but thankfully The Doctor will be on hand to save the day.
His arch-enemies will be at the second day of the Eastleigh Mardi Gras, which is themed around science fiction.
A Doctor Who lookalike, Nigel Sumner, will be making an appearance, first having lunch with children at the Litten Tree pub, in the High Street, then judging a sci-fi fancy dress contest on Sunday, September 15.
The two-day Mardi Gras, in its second year, starts on Saturday, September 14, and was set up as a replacement for Eastleigh Carnival.
It will feature a parade through the streets of Eastleigh on the Saturday. Other activities include belly dancing, hoopla, storytelling by authors, taekwondo, and a performance of songs from the musical Ah Men being shown at The Point this month.
Last year 8,000 people took part in the event and organisers hope to top that this year.
To buy tickets for lunch with ‘Doctor Who’, call Chris Thomas on 07948 546034 or contact the Litten Tree pub.
