MP slams service cut
1:47pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
CUTS to Wightlink’s cross- Solent ferry service have come under fire from Isle of Wight MP Andrew Turner.
He wants the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to investigate the decision to reduce the number of sailings on the company’s Portsmouth to Ryde catamaran route.
Wightlink says the cuts have been prompted by soaring fuel costs and vessels sailing more than 90 per cent empty.
Mr Turner claimed the Island was suffering what he described as “death by a thousand cuts”.
