Planners give go-ahead to market

WINCHESTER planners have approved the cathedral’s plans for a Christmas market in The Close.
The church wants to site 88 wooden chalets, a nativity chalet, and a live nativity scene comprised of donkeys and farm animals in the Inner Close around Cloister Garth, 9 The Close Lawn and the Chapter House Lawn.
Approval has been given for seven chalets on the Outer Close behind the War Memorial opposite the West Front of the cathedral.
The market will operate between 9.30am- 8.30pm from Thursday, November 21- Sunday, December 22.
