Asda staff use pedal power to battle breast cancer
12:20pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A GROUP of supermarket workers are using pedal power in the battle against breast cancer.
Almost 40 Asda employees are cycling from one store to another in a bid to raise more than £5,000 for the company’s Tickled Pink campaign.
They aim to cycle 108 miles during the two-day challenge, which ends tonight.
The long-distance riders were given a heroes’ welcome yesterday when they rode into the Totton branch of Asda, where they stopped for lunch.
Representatives from New Forest District Council and Totton and Eling Town Council were there to greet them.
Julie Motherwell, community life champion at the store, said: “We’re really proud of them and they got a brilliant reception. So far we’ve had two punctures and a few stiff legs but they’re all really keen and eager to get going again.”
