Southampton University arson acase adjourned
11:36am Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A MAN accused of starting a fire at Southampton University had his case adjourned after a judge was told he faced a similar allegation in Manchester.
Shaoteng Wang, 23, who is accused of arson in a corridor in a hall of residence on the Southampton campus, should have entered a plea at the city crown court yesterday.
But prosecutor Robert Welling said Wang was due to be charged with a similar offence, allegedly committed in similar circumstances, and when the paperwork has been completed, the cases would be heard together in Southampton. Judge Guy Boney QC further remanded Wang, of Pansy Road, Bassett, in custody.
