Cake-baking and other activities at summer school
CAKE-baking was just one of the activities on offer at a summer school for pupils starting secondary school.
Around 50 youngsters attended the four-day event at The Vyne Community School, in Vyne Road, Basingstoke, to familiarise themselves with their new school.
The summer school was open to all 100 prospective Year 7s, and teachers organised a variety of activities to welcome them to their new school.
These included tae kwon do, football, map-reading, cooking and watching films.
Amy Johnston, family support and student liaison at The Vyne, said: “We had 137 people turn up, which showed the support. The parents and students were very complimentary.”
