Alfie goes wild for weekend

A HAMPSHIRE youngster fighting a rare liver disease won’t let it stop him going wild.
Alfie Atkins, from Southampton, is back in civilisation having lived in the wild for the weekend at a special camp for children battling liver conditions.
The eight-year-old was joined by his dad Lee at the Wild Camp, organised by Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, and took part in woodland games and team-building activities and slept in the woods in a shelter which they built themselves.
Dad Lee Atkins said: “What a great idea – it worked really well.
Living with Alpha 1 can be a worry and it’s all too easy to focus on the negatives but in an environment like this, it’s amazing to see how much your kids can take in and do – Alfie thoroughly enjoyed himself.”
