Course held in Winchester will help make sight loss less daunting
6:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
A COURSE in Winchester is aiming to transform the lives of blind and partially-sighted people in the district.
The course, run by Action for Blind People, wants to make living with sight loss less daunting for people in the city.
Taking place at the Guildhall on various dates between October 10 to December 19, places are free but must be booked in advance.
Kathryn Arnold, of Action for Blind People, said: “Losing your sight doesn't mean losing your independence; although for someone newly diagnosed with sight loss, the future can seem daunting.
“Our new course will change the dynamics between the charity and its service users. We are moving away from doing things for them, to a culture of helping and working in partnership with people who have lost their sight. It's about gradually restoring self-belief, confidence and independent living.”
To book a place on the course, phone 01722 345 440 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
