Winchester theatre launches history exhibition
A NEW history exhibition chronicling the life of the Theatre Royal was launched on Saturday (September 9).
In the lead-up to its 100th birthday in 2014, director Mark Courtice, and chair of the board, Mary Dawson, gathered with staff and patrons at the Jewry Street venue for champagne and cake.
Mr Courtice said: “Over the past 100 years the Theatre Royal has worked its way in to the fabric of city life.
“We run youth theatre groups across the city, including the bigger estates, like Stanmore. This is not an exclusive activity – it’s for everyone.”
The morning also saw the launch of their centenary fund-raising raffle, with Roger Walker of Roger Walker Travel, Twyford, who have donated an all-inclusive ski holiday as the main prize.
The raffle will be drawn on the centenary day, Sunday, August 24 next year.
