Model of Titanic II is put to test
10:54am Friday 20th September 2013 in News
TESTS have been carried out on a model of the proposed Titanic II.
Australian billionaire Clive Palmer, who is behind the project, confirmed the tests had been carried out in Germany.
The 9.3-metre model was put through propulsion and power testing in a 300-metre long tank.
In April last year, Mr Palmer announced plans to create a replica of the illfated liner 100 years after the original vessel sailed.
The vessel is set to be launched from its construction base in China in 2016, before her maiden passenger voyage retracing the original journey from Southampton to New York.
Mr Palmer said: “The model testing by HSVA, including resistance and open water tests, is an important part of the process for the Titanic II.
“We look forward to receiving the results later this year.”
