Police closed M271 and Redbridge roundabout into Southampton

One of Hampshire's busiest motorways was shut by police afte a drama on a bridge.
Officers diverted traffic off of the M271 into Southampton from 7.10am.
The closure came after a 20-year-old man threatened to jump off a bridge during a row.
But the road was reopened just before 9am.
Earlier drivers had been taken off the motorway at junction one of the south bound carriageway.
Officers also closed off a footbridge which goes over the end of the motorway at Redbridge roundabout.
On the bridge there was a man accompanied by two woman, police officers and ambulance staff.
A trained police negotiator was also brought in to try to coax the man off the bridge.
One resident in nearby Redbridge Towers told the Echo the incident started at about 7am and that it was believed to be a domestic dispute.
He added that during the rown a man had threatened to jump from the bridge and then police arrived.
Police began to reopen the road at about 9am after the incident was resolved and the man was taken away by police.
