Winchester Cathedral prepares for Harvest celebration
4:00pm Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
Winchester Cathedral is gearing up for this year’s Hampshire Harvest celebrations next month (October 5-6) with workshops, children’s activities, crafts, and farm vehicles.
New to this year is a ‘make a scarecrow competition’, inviting families to make their own scarecrow at home and bring it along for a chance to win a prize.
Sunday’s celebrations will see a steel band and a large fairground organ, finishing with a special county harvest festival service at 3.30pm.
Attending will be Mike Smales from the award-winning local farm making Lyburn Cheese, Geoff Morgan, chairman of New Forest Show, and Chris Cook from Wintershill Estates talking to TV presenter Alastair Stewart, covering some of the challenges which face the farming community.
The celebrations will be held between 10am-5pm.
