59 ponies killed in New Forest
6:00am Sunday 22nd September 2013 in News
THE number of ponies killed on New Forest roads has risen dramatically compared to last year.
The New Forest Verderers’ Court heard that 59 animals were killed before the end of August compared to just 37 in the same period last year.
In July and August there were 26 accidents, 14 of which were in daylight, killing 13 animals and injuring five.
The court heard how at least 11 motorists involved lived in the New Forest.
There have already been eight accidents involving animals this month killing a pony that was wearing a reflective collar and injuring a foal and a calf.
